Nakahanda ang Japan Cruise Lines (JCL), nangungunang cruise line sa Japan, na isama ang Pilipinas sa regular na itineraryo nito sa susunod na taon.

Ito ay inihayag ng Department of Tourism (DOT) at ng JCL.

“We are happy to announce that we will be deploying the Pacific Venus to the Philippines next year. We hope to receive the usual support for the safe and enjoyable stay of our passengers,” ayon sa pahayag ni JCL Managing Director Kenji Yoneda.

Unang dinala ng JCL ang Pacific Venus cruise line sa Puerto Prinsesa at Manila noong Nobyembre 2015 at sa Bohol, Boracay, Manila at sa Hundred Islands noong Nobyembre 2016.

Plano ng kumpanya na gawing regular ang itineraryo nito sa bansa sa taong 2018.

Tiwala naman si Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo na ang naturang plano ay magpapaunlad sa bilang ng turismo sa bansa.

“We are confident that with JCL resuming its operations in the Philippines, visitor arrivals from Japan will notably increase to enable this top four source market to inevitably rise from its present rank,” ayon kay Teo.

Sinabi ng DOT na isa ang cruise tourism sa siyam na product portfolios na kinilala ng National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) ng ahensiya na magpapaunlad sa pagkakompetitibo ng bansa bilang tourist destination sa Asia-Pacific region.

Tiwala rin si Teo na marami pang mga international cruise operator na pipiliin din ang Pilipinas na isang regular na port of call.

“I am confident that more international cruise operators will find our country lucrative as we go about implementing key measures such as the development of port and shore-side infrastructure, facilitation of business entry and offering more exciting shore excursions, among others,” aniya.
